    Hello,
I a Windows XP SP3 running for several months on my laptop, at work. I use my laptop in a docking station and with an external monitor, external keyboard and mouse, nothing out of the ordinary.
From one weekday to another I put my XP into hibernation and leave it until the next day. Randomly, maybe once a week, the mouse begins to do left double click when I press right click. It repairs itself maybe two days after or by restarting Windows.

This is very annoying, imagine having an option that you want only in the mouse context menu. Imagine right clicking an object and instead it opens.
In most applications I can use the keyboard's right click, but this is tricky and time consuming.
I don't have any 3rd party mouse applications running, nor mouse schemes, etc, it's a standard configuration.

This malfunction is behaving inconsistently. For example, Right click doesn't work on applications like Oultook and Excel, but it works when I right click something in the systray. If I click an app in the taskbar, the context menu appears, which is ok, but the application also pops up, like I left clicked it, which in not OK.

    Thanks.

Hi and welcome to the BBS,

Try going to the laptop manufacturer's website and updating the drivers/software for the touchpad system.

I updated the mouse/touch pad drivers, actually they were up to date.
    Problem still appears, what next?

Check hardware next? Have you used the mouse when the laptop is not connected to the docking station? Borrow another mouse to try. It doesn't seem to affect the keyboard, but you might want to check that as well.

Have you checked carefully in Add or Remove Programs for any old software that may relate to a HID (Human interface Device).

If you didn't actually uninstall the touchpad software, try that and test the mouse, then reinstall the (new) touchpad software.

    Matt
