Hi peoples...Im writing this because my little brother and myself are at our witts ends with his computer! It is doing something that i have no idea how to fix or no idea why it is doing it! The computer has been running fine of late and no problems at all with it! Than, i dont know if this will have anything to do with it, but he got a new keyboard and mouse that are wireless and im thinking something might of accidently been touched on the keyboard! As when you turn the computer on ...it loads and than when its finished loading properly it restarts!!?? When the computer comes back on it shows a blue screen with alot of writing that gets taken away to fast to be able to read than starts up like normal again to be restarted again! I thought it may be the moniter he had..so i took my spare over and no that wasnt the problem! The most annoying this is you are not able to get into anything before the computer shuts its self down again!!??

As i said the computer has had no previous problems and has been completely cleaned and upgraded in the last few months! I was over there the other day and actually fixed his Internet security suite as it was saying "virus definitions are old" i have had to fix it before on his computer and i did it again successfully!

Like i have mentioned it is my brothers computer and not here at my house but i visit him and my mum everyday...So if any body has any ideas on how to help just make a list of the details you need and i will get back to you asap!

Boot the computer in Safe Mode using a regular keyboard and mouse. Try to uninstall the software that came with the new wifi devices and stick to wired keyboard and mouse.

Have you done as TonyT suggested and removed the software?

After shutting down the computer and starting normally does the computer still restart automatically?

If it does set up the computer so that it does not restart on System failure - the default setting .....
For the moment post the Stop Error message on the blue screen and look for details of the file causing the problem towards the bottom of the screen.

Ok i did everything except the dump data collection thing..and the computer was working fine this was yesterday..I am back today and went to turn the computer on to have the same thing happen!! Its restarting again!! Now when it comes back on i get this written on a blue screen!

A peoblem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

The problem seems to be caused by the following file: nv4_disp
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this appears again, follow these steps:

The device driver got stuck in an infinite loop. This usually indicates problem with the device itself or with the device driver programming the hardware incorrectly.

Please check with your hardware device vendor for any driver updates.

    Technical info: STOP 0x000000EA (0X8698C380,0X86BBA138,0XF7A4BCB4,0X00000001)

Thats what it said! I am now currently back in safe mode to be able to tell you all this! Can i get help from any of you ?? Or shall i tell my mum to call in the proffessionals , so to speak :)

    Good info :)

You have a problem with either the graphics card or the driver
The first step is to re-install/update the video driver.

nv4_disp indicates that you have nVidia graphics.

Log on to this URL ....

    http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index5.aspx?lang=en-us

and use Option 2 to automatically find the driver - save this to your hard drive.

Then go into Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the nVidia graphics driver.

Install the new driver and see if this resolves the problem.

Note - in Safe Mode the basic Windows graphic driver is used, not the nVidia driver.

You can uninstall both - nVidia Physix is used for 3D games and should be reinstalled with the new driver.

    1. comp worked fine.
    2. added wifi mouse and keyboard and its software.
    3. comp now has issues.

Logic dictates that adding the wifi hardware and software is the cause of the issues, despite what event logs and bsods spit out. It could be that the wifi drivers are successfully loading but are causing issues with the nvidia drivers.

I have fixed many many comps after owners had installed Logitech wifi hardware. And other brands as well.

I'll bet if you boot in safe mode and get rid of the wifi keyboard/mouse drivers' startup entries in the registry the comp will boot normally. And also disable any of their services in services.msc.

Don't worry about the debug - the offending file is shown on the blue screen as you posted - nv4_disp.

As you have already updated the drivers it is likely that the problem lies else where.

First step I would take is to power the computer down and open the case - it is a desktop? - and carefully remove the video card and reseat and test.

With respect to your posted computer experience as 'beginner' I seriously suggest that you take the computer to a repair shop for attention. It is very easy to do more harm than good delving inside a computer without the appropriate knowledge :)

FYI - an image of a laptop is attached.
