I want to store all my Mail in Thunderbird on my 1 Terabyte External HDD.
I have searched Google etc... and most advice seems to be for older versions of Thunderbird.
Most say get as far as:

    C: Users-->MadMonkey-->AppData--> Roaming--> Thunderbird--> Profiles-->########.default--> Mail--> Local Folders

and copy everything out of Local Folder

paste it to where you want the Mail stored

Go into T'bird account settings and browse to the new location and save.

That seems ok, BUT in T'Birb 3.0.3 when you get to ########.default you have in there Mail AND ImapMail which is actually where the Mail is stored.

So where do i copy from ???? should i copy everything from ########.default and then Broswe to its new location ?

Any help would be great thanks

From what you say, it seems that you want to run TB out of the external drive. I have both Firefox and Thunderbird in a thumb drive, and I use the Portable Apps . I, never tried to import/copy the mail from the hard drive TB. ImapMail is present, only, if you have an IMAP account. In my case it is AOL. But all pop. mail would be in the Mail folder. As usual, you can copy the files with no extention (like Inbox) from the C drive, and paste them in the appropriate folder in the external drive. In another external drive, everything is, automatically copied/pasted. But mail is no accessible. I can read only plain text. But, I can restore it, if necessary, to the C drive.
I don't know where the path mentioned above would be obtained.

Just copy the entire profile folder to the external drive.

IMHO though, this is not a good idea. If the external drive fails, or have a usb problem, or any other issue with the extermal drive you could lose your TB profile & all mail and addresses.

What I would do is keep the profile where it is on the c: drive and copy the profile to the external as a backup only. Copy it weekly manually or use a backup program to auto copy your data.

I agree with Tony and would like to offer the suggestion of looking into obtaining the program "Second Copy" which you can find by doing a Google search.

I been using Second Copy for a few years and it does just that, makes a 2nd copy of one file or one folder or all of them at scheduled times and has many many options for keeping your computer backed up.

I too have an USB External H/D and Second Copy copies my entire SeaMonkey Profile folder every 4 hours and I never know it is being done because Second Copy does it all in the back ground without having any effect on computer speed etc.

Unlike most backup programs your can retrieve your backed up files using Windows Explorer because it is as implied just a simply copy of your files and/or folders and you can copy different file/folder using different frequencies.

    My 2 Cents, Ray

I know nothing about ATT Yahoo. Yahoo, itself displays no differently than before.
But, I got this disturbing e-mail:
from an .ar domain(Argentina). Look at:this thread
The settings for Fonts are in tools|options|content|fonts|advanced. Uncheck box with "allow pages... ". My mail is received in Thunderbird, where I can save downloaded mail, indefinitely, unlike the website, which you use.
