Does the 4way usb hub have its own a/c power supply?

You might need/want to look into getting a PCI USB card...

Do you have PS2 ports and converters where you could plug the mouse and keyboard into?

Answer1. USB Hub does not have own power supply.

Answer 2, Getting a USB Card may be the best result, it would enhance the pc.

Answer 3. I will have to look into the PC port converters, I may well have something in my ' toot boxes'.
    Will get back with results.Thanks.Spanner

    Spanner,

Answer 1 is perhaps what's causing the problem. Onboard USB have a limited power supply, buying a powered hub should resolve the issue.

The keyboard should be connected directly to the computer, not through a hub. The keyboard needs to be loaded at startup and the BIOS may not "see through" a hub, it may not see through a USB PCI card either. [Windows can load USB devices, that could be why it works when Windows loads.]
