Recently I updated to Firefox 3.6 on my Dell XPS 400 system running Windows 7 Pro. I set it to open to my home page when launched. Every time I launch Firefox it wants to restore my previous session instead of opening my home page. I have tried clearing history then it opens to the home page once, the second time Firefox is launched it wants to restore the session. Any suggestions?

If Bill's advice doesn't work make sure private browsing (Tools->Start/Stop Private Browsing) is not on when you exit Firefox.

    Ok,

    This is a workaround,

Start Firefox and in the address bar type

    Code:
    about:config

Click OK on the Beware here be dragons prompt.

    Scroll down to...
    Code:
    browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash

or enter the above in the filter box.

If it's set to true (and it will be) right click on the entry and select toggle to set the entry to false.

Don't mess with any other settings in there. Close FF and restart.

    Please post back with results.

Thanks Wildfire for the info. That seems to have done the trick.

    It hasn't ;), I was just troubleshooting.

We still need to find out why Firefox is crashing when you shut it down.

Most likely it's an addon, reset resume_from_crash back to true (same instructions as above).

Now in tools->addons try disabling addons one by one until/if the problem disappears.

I toggled browser.sessionstore.resume_from_crash back to true then I disabled them all of the addons. I then enabled one at a time, restarting FF after each enable. Each time FF opened to my home page. I then disabled them all again and enabled them one at a time opening several tabs each time. Each time I had several tabs open then enabled an addon I got the window saying that all tabs would be reopened upon FF restart. I canceled out the window then rebooted the system each time. After going through the whole process I was able to launch FF multiple times getting the home page each time. This is different than I was getting previously. I think I'm going to leave the settings as they are and see if the problem comes back. If it does I'll just play with the addons again.

The issue was resolved after I rebuilt my computer with Windows 7 64 bit.
