I have problem with my Toshiba laptop’s screen

I been having this laptop for 4 years, I normally leave it in for over 12 hours a day, most of the times its on 24/7…

The problem is that the lights around power button are off! They sometime come on some other times are off! And now recently my screen keeps flickering its very continuous and sometimes for couple of minutes… its less likely to happen if I have my laptop on a flat surface like desk and don’t move it !! im sure its not the screen resolution! Quality of the display is still perfect its just the screen’s light that keeps going on and off…on ..off… very rapidly….

Once around 1 year ago the laptop was hit with an object on the back and since then there is a light scratch on left part of the screens plastic cover( not screen itself).

I also used to have problem with network connection icon which went missing for about 2 years! I did format about 3 times but it never fixed the problem!! Until recently which it has re-appeared!

I suspect it’s a hardware issues, because it has to do with the laptops movement! please advice 

One more thing! It also used to hibernate automatically !! even though It was on full power! Now I have disabled the hibernation which has fixed the issue, but I still have the screen going dark which is really annoying!

Laptop used to get very hot in the past and did shutdown itself for no more than 5 times in past 4 years .. but I never had screen problem until 2 month ago

You'll have to bring it to a repair center. Either the connection is loose, or one of the LCD back lights may have failed.

    Only some other suggestions.

It may be a heat problem and may involve your graphics adapter. Cleaning the dust out might help (if it is running 24/7, the fan/s will be drawing in dust constantly).

BTW, why run it 24/7? I don't think laptops were made to run that way, they have the best power saving modes so that you can use them as a mobile computer, running on a battery. Desktop or server computers I think would be better to run 24/7. Why don't you want it to go into power saving mode?

See if Toshiba supply any service manuals, but open any "easy to get at" access/upgrade covers and re-seat the hardware (hard disk drive, RAM, others if possible).

You might be trying to run the computer in a manner it was not made to work.
