    Please help!

How can I use ICS and a firewall (zone alarm) at the same time?

There's nothing to be gained from running both simultaneously. Have a gander at this thread.

Yes you can run ( Internet connection sharing ) and Zonealarm
Together. at least that's what I've been doing for the last few years. Works great!!

you can give the the network ethernet card access through
    Zonealarm.
and ICS as well in the security tab, (advanced) you can list all your network adaptors and the modem to have access.
    Or other computers.
I.m running version 2.6 so the new one will be a little different.

By the way that is the same computer I have except I upgraded the ram to 256mb Makes lots of difference.

It doesn't work. There are differnet numbers (depending on what link) that would have to be specified and it would be foolish and imposible to make all those IP's trusted.

There is no security tab anyway. I am using the free version. Maybe that is why.

I ditched ZA. I like it better than Sygate but I had to use what works. I now have Sygate.

If anyone reads this and can help me set up ZA to work I would like that very much. I like ZA better than Sygate.

Does anyone have ZA pro and can use Internet connection sharing? Please let me know if that is what I have to do to get ZA to work. I have the free version, maybe I have to upgrade?

I use ICS to share a cable broadband connection between to Win 98 PC's on a simple peer-to-peer network. Both PC's have Norton Personal Firewall running along with Norton Anti-virus with no problems whatsoever.

I believe a better idea is to install a Router/switch. Each PC will then have its own access to the Net.

Just need to make sure that the Router and Modem are constantly powered.

    Advantages;

    Faster

More than one machine can be on the Net with only one IP address. ( I sometimes have four on at the same time. )

Only one NIC needed in any machine. Making each machine indepentent of the other. With ICS if the machine that is connected to the Modem goes down nobody has access to the Net.

    Example.
The machine connected to the modem goes down. You need help. With ICS you may be sunk. With a Router/Switch you can use the other to get here for help if needed.

Router relieves a lot of pressure on the Software firewall. ( incoming only ) But a Software Firewall is still needed to control the outgoing.

Of course each machine does need AV software.

Of course all this is based on my understanding of ICS.
