I have functioning model# MHT2060AH PL 60GB hard drive (removed and tested in a twin Dell. It is out of an old Dell latitude d600.) Will this USB to SATA/IDE adapter work on my old Dell hard drive?

Not sure about the type of the old hard drive. IDE? How can I get this info?

The connector on the old drive is a solid male strip 1 3/4" long with 22 contacts and four very small male pins in a square on the opposite end of the pin 1 location.

I noticed on pictures of various adapters for sale (Sabrent for one) they all seem to have male plugs on the sides. Not sure how a connection could be made unless there is a special cable that would allow me to connect the old drive to the adapter. Would I also have to purchase an external enclosure for the old drive?

    Thanks for any help.

Your IDE drive is PATA (see here) so no the USB to SATA case won't work.

EDIT: Hold on, you didn't say what USB/IDE/SATA adapter you have. A link would be nice, Although both PATA and SATA drives are IDE I'd still think your IDE/SATA adapter is for SATA drives.

    Thanks Wildfire.

I didn't say what kind of adapter I have cause I don't have one yet. Only have been shopping for one and noticed the photos with the male plugs.

Is there an adapter for my hard drive? I was hoping to put my old hard drive to use for something other then a paper weight. Such as an external hard drive for back up storage. What would my options be.- Thanks.

Get a USB to PATA enclosure for a 3.5" drive, you'll have no problems. If buying online then post a link and advice will be given, if buying from a store tell the salesperson or take the drive with you.

Wildfire, good suggestions. Will probably deal face to face with this one. Thanks.
