I just installed IE7 to my computer and let it go thru the full installation process. Computer restarted and I clicked on IE to start using it. However the screen starts to go into loading and brings up the top bars and then just hangs there. The next thing is the screen goes back to my desktop. No more IE7. I tried clicking on the icon two more times and it does the same thing. This is the third time I have tried to install and run IE7 and it keeps doing the same thing. Could there be a glitch in my computer that won't allow IE7 to continue? I have used the Microsoft site for downloading the program. I want to upgrade to IE7 but I usually have to restore my IE in order to be able to use it. Any suggestions as to what to try next. I have XP and also use Google Chrome.

Hi msbooch. Try running Internet Explorer 7 without add-ons and see if it will start up correctly. To start IE7 with no add-ons click Start< All Programs< Accessories< System Tools< Internet Explorer (No-Addons). Does IE7 start normally now?

BTW IE7 is already out of date so instead of troubleshooting your IE7 problem, I would suggest that you upgrade to Internet Explorer 8, and see if you have the same issue.

Sounds like Google Chrome is set as your default web browser. Had this problem on an XP Pro machine and had a fun time getting IE to be the default browser.

I too would suggest upgrading to IE8. It is available for Windows XP and is a strong improvement over previous versions. Here is a link to get you started:
