Do I just go to Control Panel , Network connection , Lan or High speed connection , Name of connection , and un install everything , Or is there another/better way , and do I have to do any thing with my DI-604 D Link Router ?

XP - not possible to safely uninstall/remove networking. Too built-in.

Use NetShell to reset all IP-related Registry settings to their default values. The result is a brand-new TCP/IP configuration and does the same thing that an uninstall would on other systems.

The Netsh.exe program is located in the C:\Windows\System32 directory.

To use the program, enter the command
netsh int ip reset filename (and you must specify a filename, such as Ipstuff.txt or similar)

After Netsh.exe runs, the file will contain a detailed log of the Registry keys that were modified in case you need the information later.

I'd unplug the PC from the router while you are doing all of this. Might also be good to reset the router to all it's defaults. Hard to say since you didn't mention what the problem is.

Good on ya. Glad you got it fixed without such a heroic measure as netsh. It is pretty much a last-resort effort.

And anyone with XP-pro would be well advised to do as you did and get rid of "simple file sharing ". XP-home and you won't have a choice since that is the only option.
