Can anybody tell me why I lose my Wireless network connection icon when I shut the PC down. I find that I have to reboot in order to get it back. I have to keep puting the check back in the "Use windows to configure my wireless network settings"
I am using Windows XP professional. I reinstalled my Belkin adapter yesterday but it has not made a difference. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

It sounds like you have the Belkin wireless managing software installed and enabled, and it is preventing the Windows Wireless Zero Configuration service from working correctly and holding you setting.

Open the Belkin wireless configuration manager and look for an option to disable it from managing the wireless....then Windows will be able to take over.

Here is a more detailed description of the procedure, from Belkin, here:
Belkin Support - Enabling the Wireless Zero configuration in Windows XP -

All you need installed are the Belkin drivers. The Belkin wireless management software does not even need to be installed, and can probably be uninstalled separately from the drivers, through Add or Remove Programs in Control Panel.

    Belkin wireless

Hi there and thanks for that information but I had already disabled the belkin manager. I think I have now sorted the problem which I think was to do with the USB adapter I am using. I have reset everything now and it looks as if it is working now. Although I dont know what happened to the Belkin managing software as it seems to have disappeared from my system. It is not on add remove programs and I have done a search and it is not there but as you said this is not really necessary anyway.
    Thanks for the input.
