I am running Windows Vista Home Premium Service Pack 1

    Dell Studio 1737

    Processor Intel Core 2 Duo CPU T6400 @2.00Hz 2.00GHz

    memory 4.00 GB

    64 bit version

I have been getting the blue screen lately after the clicking of my hard drive.

    It reads Kernal_Data_Inpage_error.

I get a message after bring back up the laptop through safemode, which I am in right now. It finds a possible solution saying that windows failed to read the hard drive for some reason. It does not do this often, but lately has been.

This is the info it provided before I clicked for it to find a solution.

    Problem signature:
    Problem Event Name: BlueScreen
    OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
    Locale ID: 1033

    Additional information about the problem:
    BCCode: 7a
    BCP1: FFFFF6FD30004D98
    BCP2: FFFFFFFFC000000E
    BCP3: 00000000A255F860
    BCP4: FFFFFA60009B341C
    OS Version: 6_0_6001
    Service Pack: 1_0
    Product: 768_1

Files that help describe the problem:
    C:\Windows\Minidump\Mini022710-01.dmp
    C:\Users\Emmett\AppData\Local\Temp\WER-113740-0.sysdata.xml
    C:\Users\Emmett\AppData\Local\Temp\WERBDF1.tmp.version.txt

I have another 500 gig hard drive to drop in here. When I do this, I am thinking about putting the Windows 7 Pro I have on it instead of Vista.

I just want to know if my suspesion are correct in the hard drive going out in this slowly. Its under warrenty i can get a new one, but I do online classes and only use this laptop now.

Thanks everyone a head of time.

    Steve,

From my experience when working on computers, if your hard drive starts to "click rapidly" and does not stop and then the computer locks up in the Operating System. It's a good sign that the hard drive is getting ready to turn itself into a permant paper weight after sometime.

I read the entire solution suggestions that windows gave me about the error which includes what you posted.

    Thanks though.

    Arie,

I did a full systems Diag through the bios and it did not show any signs of errors. This doesnt mean that there is non, just nothing showed at the time of the tests.

I have went through everything and come to determine I will need to switch out my hard drive here sometime. I am thinking about calling up dell since I have a 3 year warrenty to have everything replaced for free with the coverage I have on it. I'll have to see if i can send the hard drive to them and not the whole laptop though.

I will run the test again to see if it comes up with anything new since its been a couple months from the last time I had to do that.

    Thanks though.

You should use the drive diagnostics from the HD manufacturer. That's the only real indicator (also would need the code generated if you want to RMA the drive).

Its actualy a combo of both the memory and harddrive. I had my uncle examine the laptop and it showed up another memory error code.

So if anyone receives that code and then the bad_pool_caller error not long after it. The memory dimms need checked.

For mine the entire system is not picking up any errors through any tests now and I have not changed anything out yet.

    I appericate the help though.

    I'am claiming solved for now.

If there are spelling errors showing sorry, I'am typing through my psp here.
