I have PCI LAN cards installed on desk tops all using WIN XP PRO. All are networked through Linksys wireless router. While some connect to the network successfully, others are saying limited or no connectivity. They are all set to obtain IP address authomatically. When i use static IP addresses, i have successful connection on all. But my internet service provider wanted them set to obtain IP address authomatically. What could be wrong to those onces

If you are using NAT on the router (clearest indicator being that your internal IP addresses start with either 192.168., 10., or 172.16.) then their settings should have absolutely no impact on your ISP. They will have no way of detecting how the addresses are set, and its none of their business. There is only one address that should interest them and that is the external IP of your router. THAT SINGLE ADDRESS MAY BE AUTOMATICALLY SET BY THE ISP's ROUTER'S.

    This gives us two senarios:

    1. You are using NAT already. In which case assign the computers' IP addresses statically as it is the obvious simple solution to your problems.

    2. You are not using NAT. In which case I would strongly advise you to enable NAT at the router, as it will both allow you to fix your current problem and provide you internal system with an extra layer of security.
