I have a settings problem which I am sure is very simple, except I don't know the answer to it!
I have recently been toying around with the display settings (Display Otions>Appearance), trying to make things prettier.
However, as a result the message box that pops up asking whether I want to save something is very large as are the buttons and fonts.
That's not the problem. The problem is that when I open some message boxes the fonts are so large that a large part of the message and the options are obscured (e.g. in Outlook>options some of the option button on the right cannot be seen). This happens in some other message boxes also.
I've checked Display options>appearance>advanced and scrolled to 'message box', there is no option to change the size of the box and the font is 'georgia' at size 9.
Does anyone know how I can these message boxes back to the default size.

Hi cozzielex. Go into Display Properties< Appearance tab. Under Font Size select the Normal Option and click Apply. Now click the Effects button and make sure the Use Large icons checkbox is unchecked. Click Ok when done.

Now click the Settings tab and adjust the resolution to a size that works for you. When done click apply and ok to close the Display Properties window.

See if that restores the fonts to there default size.

No dice Evan everything was already set as you suggested. I changed the settings and re-set them but the fonts etc in the message boxes are still too large!
    Any other suggestions?
    Thanks for your time.

Look in the Desktop > Properties > Appearance tab > Advanced button and review all the setting you see there. Generally they will be size 8 in the Message Box and size 18 in the Active Title Bar.

If you want to take a screenshot that would be helpful. Just upload the image to an image hosting website and then post the link here.

Thanks Evan but I dont know what an image hosting website is or how to use it. Is there not a way I could attach the image file to my message?

Re: attachments, no dice unless you've paid for a subscription.

This seems to have been missed (either by me or the others posting) but is your resolution ok (at least 1024x768)?

    Guys,
When I started this thread I thought this was just me, yet again doing something dumb; but as luck would have it, I am enjoined by others in my incompetence who have the same problem and THERE IS a solution.
The problem lies with the tahoma.ttf and tahomabd.ttf font files which I suppose have become corrupted.
    To resolve the problem:-
    1. go to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/188081/
    2. Scroll down to the heading "Euro currency support for Microsoft Windows 95 "
    3. Click on the link Tahoma32.exe
    4. Install and re-boot.
    5. QED
I expect there are other ways of doing this, such as looking into your XP disk, but I think you will find the above steps to be simpler.
Thanks for your replies and your time.

Cozzielex, I never cease to be amazed at what answers can be found on the Internet if one is capable of focusing and gleaning through them and sorting the chaff from the grain. :)

Thanks for the update so others can share.

    Regards, Dude
