Screen saver won't work

    Hi everyone.
    Hope someone can help me. I have a new copy of windows xp and the screen saver won't work. I have set it several times, always clicking on apply, but it still doesn't come on. What can I do to put this right

    What screen saver are you trying to get to work ?

    How much "Wait" time (it's in minutes) have you set on the Screen Saver window?

    I have tried various screen savers. I have had it set for various times, 10 mins, 4 mins, doesn't make any difference, it just don't work.

    Are you able to do a Preview on any screen saver you select ?

    Hi Chrissy. You probably have some program thats running in the background thats causing the screensaver to not come up. Try shutting down all background programs that are running in the system tray and then see if the screensaver works.

    Have you installed all of the Service Packs ?

    Per Microsoft - Service Pack 1 fixed the problem.
    If you have not downlaoded and installed Service 3 - Please do so and see if the problem is fixed.

    If you have already installed Service Pack 3 - then it could be a virus.
    If you have a virus program installed - run it on full scan and then remove any virus it finds.
    Restart your PC and see if the Screen Saver will work
