I have three PCs two running Win98 1 running Win2k. All the PCs Become Inoperable after installing IE X.X The Win 98 PCs run Ie 4.0 that was put in with the Windows Install which was to blank formated HDs. When I try to install IE the 2 win98 PCs Hang at a blank screen with a movable cursor. The Win 2000 problem was that Windows explorer wouldn't stay up. It would come up and disappear (not minimize - disappear). I have run SFC to try to find corrupt file. 0 corrupt files. When installing 5.5 in one of the Win98s I got an error - an error or exception ocurred while calling the function Dlllnstall in C:\windows \systems\browseui.dll. The result is that I have to restore an earlier registry using scanreg /fix then re-install 98. In the reinstalls before the final completion the animated Drum beat, it's running and the message says upadating system files, but it stops about 2/3 of the way across. I waited 20 minutes for that to finish (it didn't) so I pushed the reset button. The PC came up that same message appeared and finished (the squares ran all the way across) and My Windows 98 came back up. Please Help

Aleekat - Thanks, that reads like it's the first real detailed info I've found on the subject. Be interesting to know how you found it. I guess it's all in the phraseology. And thatnks for fromating the link. This week is kinda busy and doing what's in that documentation and then if it fails, the restoral (I hope) will take almost a whole day.
I will definitely let you know the results.
    Kermit :)
