Every time I startup my new Dell with XP Pro, the cable access is disabled. Simple enough to correct by running ipconfig /renew in command box (or by repairing the connection) - but it bugs me that I need to do it?

Any thoughts? I've reduced the start-up programs to a bare minimum. Other PC on LinkSys hub connected to LinkSys cable modem is not affected and does not lose cable access.

What OS is the working PC running? Win2k and XP have DNS Client resolvers that cache negative responses. If your problem is DNS resolution, various suggestions have been made from setting the DNS Client service to manual startup to setting the NegativeCacheTime or manually assigning DNS servers.

Are you using the XP firewall?

Thanks to Dorfmann for the thoughtful reply.
I'm digging thru the material at the broadband site to see if it helps with my problem.

I'm using XP Pro on the affected PC and WIN98 on the other PC that is sharing the Cable Modem.
