Well, I found another Java download site, and this time in worked.

I completed all the last tasks per your request, hope all is ok!

I will try and logon to ebay.

I really want to thank you for all your help, I don't know what I would have done without your help. It was very hard to get the bug out, right?

Do you know what it was, so you can help someone else if they try to logon to ebay and get the same bug?

I never tried my online banking, do you think it would have also intercepted that login as well?

    Thanks agin

Your computer is clean now, but you have to remember, that you had several trojans, so make sure you complete:
As for helping others, it doesn't work that way, because every computer is unique, so you can't apply same cure to any other computer.

Please, let me know, how is your access to those secure sites.

    A few issues?

    Broni,

Ok, I will change my passwords. Last night after we finished I was able to login to ebay without the fake security prompt asking for credit card info.

I still have a few questions, what does a Trojan do?

I have one problem I noticed since the virus, after login of my computer, it is taking longer before I can use the internet, is there something I can do to speed this up like it use to be?

Another important note, I have not use the computer all day today, now at 11:00 pm I turned it on and logged in, got a prompt from my Norton Internet Security, saying it blocked something, so I checked the Security History and see two activities that occurred as soon as my computer started up, "Boot.Mebroot detected by Auto-Protect, Quarantined ", and one minute later, "Auto-Protect has detected Boot.Mebroot, Blocked ". Both of these had happened yesterday, while we were working on my computer. This "Boot.Mebroot" is still attempting to gain access to my computer, Norton indicates the severity as HIGH.

What is this "Boot.Mebroot ", and where is it coming from, could it still be on my computer somewhere?

Trojan itself doesn't cause any damage to your computer.
If we compare your computer to your house, trojan would be some invisible guy, who keeps your house door open, so all bad guys can take a good look what's inside and they're free to plant anything they want inside your house.

    Can you be more specific?

Normally, there is no reason to look at your security programs logs. If you did and it says, access was blocked, it only means, your program is working fine.
I use Comodo firewall, for instance and I have all those warning messages disabled. There is no reason to be bothered with any messages about something what was BLOCKED.

Ok, in my laymans words, after login, if you select the Internet Explorer desk top icon or the Yahoo Email icon, it takes a few minutes (maybe 5) before they launch and open up. It use to take just about 1-2 minutes before the programs launched.

What are things that I can do to speed up both system launch and application launches?

Does it affect only IE and Yahoo Mail, or some other programs as well?

You didn't answer my questio about the "Boot.Mebroot ", did Norton find it coming in over the internet or was it on my computer?

Is Norton going to block it every time I turn on my computer?

Yes mainly IE and Yahoo, I just tried ebay, opened REAL fast, and Photoshop oped real fast.

You know when you first login it takes you system a while to get going, I wonder if I'm not waiting long enough for the system to come up, so when i launch the IE or Yahoo, maybe the system isn't to full-on run mode yet, what do you think?

    That's surely true.
Unless I'm in rush, I always wait for a whole desktop to load before attempting to open any programs.
Try that and see, if you have same issue.
BTW, what do you mean by eBay?

Yes, I understand, just asked if it was BLOCKED from my system or coming from the internet.

Here is a link I found to remove it:

    Also, try this...
    Close IE.
Go Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools, and click on Internet Explorer (no add-ons).
    Does it open faster?

Yes, I just made a desk top icon for ebay, so I don't have to open IE.

    Broni,

I truely want to THANK YOU for all you hard work getting that bug out of my computer, it sure was a lot of work.

I need to set my internet security HIGHER?

Also, I wante dto tell you everythi went pretty good except for the Java instructions, the Java site was very confusing to me, and the Sun downloader kept stopping after only 3%, then strting again, did this many times till it timed out. I tried it several times then finally ended up downloading the Java from another site, much simpler and faster.

Another wierd thing was both the online system scanners did not make a log when they finished scanning?

Well, eBay opens through something, namely, your browser.

Try to restart computer, get a cup of coffee until your whole desktop loads and then try IE.
In any case, since your computer is clean, I'll mark this thread as resolved.
If you're still having IE problems, I suggest you start new topic under Windows, or Internet section of this board.
