Windows 7 Pro. 3Gig of ram. AVG, Spybot, SpwareBlaster, MBAM. Every once in a while the column on the right where shut down, help and support, default programs etc. will disappear. The background is still there and so is the Icon at the top which brings you to where you can change your account type etc. and you can click on it. The Shut down option is also still there. The PC is never shut off. It is Dell Vostro. Have a seperate HD in for XP and never have had a problem with it. This was a new install of Win 7 on a new HD.

Are they all running at the same time?

You may need more system RAM, or you may need to run a memory test.

No they are not running at the same time. It is either one or the other. The only thing that is active all the time is AVG. The others are when called up by me.

    MrBill,

Prior to installing Windows 7 did you run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor?

To determine if your current computer configuration will be compatible with Windows 7 please go to the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx

Another resource to verify compatibility is available at the Microsoft Windows 7 Compatibility Center located at the following link: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

Yes. I ran the compatibility from MS. It was fine. Ordered the NEW disc from MS and ordered a new HD from New Egg.
