I'm curious if any of you have downloaded SeaMonkey 2.0.3 yet. Especially anyone installing it on top of SM 2.0.2. Any problems or cautions? I'm in no hurry to get the upgrade, as my 2.0.2 is working fine. Installing that version on top of 2.0.1 went surprisingly well and I'd like assurance that going up to 2.0.3 would be equally trouble-free. Anyone?

I don't bother with the final version, preferring to go straight past it, and using the development nightly. I don't know how a final version works, but the nightly has in Help|Check for Updates line. If you have it, and there is an update it is perfectly safe to install on top. This is a behavior like that of Firefox, which may allow an incremental update. I am using FF3.6, and I went that route.

I'd like to try SeaMonkey. Is it basically Firefox plus some web development built-in?

SeaMonkey is a suite, containing a browser with an e-mail client. I think of it as like combining Firefox and Thunderbird.

Or, if Seamonkey1.x was the direct descendant of the Netscape7 or Mozilla suites, Seamonkey2.x has a browser more closely related to Firefox, plus Mail, Composer and Chat.
The sum total takes only a fraction of the resources of all individual apps. For instance Firefox3.6 takes, at least 90MB of resources, while the entire Seamonkey takes a bit over 60MB.

Well, I took the plunge and downloaded and installed SM 2.0.3 on top of my 2.0.2. Everything went well -- quick and easy. I think the download from the SM site is 10 MB in size, and the whole operation from start to finish took just seconds. No restart was required, and as far as I can tell, everything is working just fine. No problems here, just smiles.

Oh yea, sorry, that's right. It was email that it had on top of browsing. Do Firefox 3.6 and SeaMonkey 2.0.3 play nice?

I have them open at the same time, and going to different pages, with no issue.

SeaMonkey told me 2.0.3 was available, already having 2.0.2. I just clicked go ahead and everything is fine.
