Resolved Unable to install new programs

Do you have a floppy drive?

If so download boot floppies images from microsoft and create them, try the install from them (you'll still need that Windows CD).

You'll need six disks.

How did you install XP in the first place, did your system come with it preinstalled?

I had the tower custom made annd the program with sp1 was installed and i got the disk.
Ill get busy with the floppies.

I did the floppy routine and the computer is up now. what do I do with the the xp sp3 disk now?

 

Insert the first floppy and boot from it, you'll be prompted for the others and finally your XP SP3 disk,

Do the repair install from there. Follow the repair instructions from then on.

After installing the floppies which was the only place there was a mention of repair I inserted the slipstream CD and everything went well. I was still looking for the repair option which made me nervous.
Everything seems to be working well except that I still cannot install H & R Block which I now have to blame them.
