Hi folks well after years of trouble free service from my Linksys WAG200G I was suddenly left without being able to browse the internet some time ago

Anyhow, I have had to accept maybe** the internal modem has packed in, so I have been using my old trusty BT speedtouch but is now getting on my nerves with wires in the wrong places etc...

What I want to know, is if I connect the speedtouch to my main PC, which is connected to the WAG200 via network cable, can I set things up to be able to access the internet via my PC through the routers wifi on my laptop and phone?

If not are there any dirt cheap modems that I can strap to one of my wag200 ports as I have not got enough money to purchase a replacement full package right now...

    Any help appreciated!

** I swear there is little wrong with the wag200 there was a BT engineer up the pole the day before things stopped working and I have read on internet bt occasionally add a filter which stops some modems connecting... Of course they deny any fault

Each Router comes with its own book of settings
    Referring here: http://ui.linksys.com/files/WAG200G/1.00.09/Setup.htm
And whilst having your ISP support on the phone, please confirm all settings.
At least that way, you will have confirmed all the settings are correct.

Looking at the setup page for the Linksys, it does not appear that one can turn off the modem functions. However, you should be able to still use the switch in the router and also the wifi.

Hi, BT were most unhelpful tbh and would only look at computer settings not my router. Is there anything I could adjust and experiment with?

    Try this setup:
turn OFF all devices first, connect
modem to router WAN port > comp to router LAN port
    power ON modem
    power ON router
    power ON comp
