Can you help me in connecting a windows 98 system to internet,i have no idea why its not connecting to internet because the ethernet drivers are good and they are enabled , i have an intel 82557 based integrated ethernet PCI in the network adapters list.
when i am trying to connect it to the internet its not getting connected, i am using a DHCP server which has its DNS names and it automatically assigns ip address to the clients dats how the rest of systems are configured, they are xp though.
So can you suggest me any steps which can help me connect this guy to internet and i wanna join it to my domain if possible.

    Thanks,
    TRi

Yes you can "browse" a domain from Windows98 but you cannot join it, as Arie has stated already.

Obviously running a Workgroup network will not be an issue. Is this all you want to do? Because Domain (as in Servers and User Clients) is obviously different types of networks.
Generally a "Domain" is accompanied by a Server (ie Server 2003 or Server 2008 or Server 2010) Is this the type of thing you are setting up?
Because I think (?) you are just setting up a Workgroup local network. If you want to join a domain, then update to XP Pro minimum.

Yea, I was going to post the same link as Triger, How to enable Windows 98/ME/NT clients to logon to Windows 2003 based Domains

But logging on to a domain is just one thing.

Also read: Desktop Technology Compatibility Chart for Windows Small Business Server 2003

Sorry, but running Win98 & accessing the Internet (specially in a business) is crazy!

Microsoft ended support for Windows 98 on July 11, 2006. Instead of using computers running Windows 98, you are strongly recommended to install computers running Windows XP for your desktop operating system.

I cant leave this guy because we have a software installed on that for which we lost the hard copy and now the software is around 8000$,which my firm is not willing to spend and they want me to use this system and protect this system by cloning the hard drive(which i failed to do but still trying though). So now i need to atleast connect this guy to the domain i mean i should atleast make it to browse the files on server.
