I recently tok over an old PC from one of our classrooms and reinstalled Vista Business. For some reason my clock will not keep the correct time after a restart or logoff.

I replaced the CMOS battery with a known good one and the problem still exists. I even check the time in the Setup mode and it was correct, just not in Wiindows.

    Anyone else experience this problem?

I just went and purchased a new battery and still have the same result. When I booted my computer, I set the time in Setup and when I logged into Windows the time was off by at least 12 hours.

You don't mention that you have checked theTimezone. Go to Control Panel -> Date and Time, there you will find a Change Timezone button.

I actually did check the time zone and it was correct along with the Daylight Savings time.

I also saw on another forum that someone had suggested that the Realtime clock get uninstalled and let re-install itself, but that did not work either.

I keep having to go to the time settings and tell it to update the internet time. I have even turned off the internet time and when I restart the computer, the time is off by more than 12 hours.

    [Resolved]

I am marking this one as resolved even though I had to re-install Windows Vista to fix the problem.

Thanks for letting us know. Did you reformat or do a repair reinstallation on the OS? I could only think that a third party software was interfering, be it a "helper" program or maybe some sort of malware. If you are reinstalling software you might want to check if it could have an influence in that area first.

I don't think it could be an issue with the BIOS, but you might want to investigate that if it happens again, also that you have a good set of motherboard (chipset) drivers.

I will mark this thread Resolved.

Yes, I actually did do a reformat and reinstall. I also reinstalled all of the software that I had previously, and so far the clock is running just fine.

The only thing that is missing is my Dell laser printer software.
