I have Win XP os and am trying to get a cf/sm usb card reader to work. The smart media part of the reader works, but when I try to read a compact flash card I get the message "insert card ". I have tried a different brand of card reader and get the same message with it. I have a seperate cf card reader, and if I attach it to my computer it will read the cf card, although I cannot hook up both readers, if I try that I only get the reader that was hooked up first. I am at a loss as to what to do next.

Why not uninstall the single reader program and just install the dual reader since it has the capabality of reading both card types?
The dual reader should put both drives on the computer at the same time.

I have done that. The multiple reader still won't read the c/f card.

I have a Kodak Multi-Card reader for CF/SM/MMC/SD when it was installed on a Win98SE box all were seen as drives F:, G:, H: but I see that you tried a different reader so I would guess that it is a problem with either XP or the software for the reader. Have you searched the Manufacters website to see if they have had any problems with this or you may find a tech support number email address. I don't know much about XP but a search of MSKB http://support.microsoft.com/?scid=fh;[ln];kbhowto didn't show anything but you may want try also.

    Probably doesn't help much
