I have a brand new laptop that came with IE8 installed.

In order to use certain software, I have to have IE6 installed. Have to. As soon as it's installed, I can go back to using IE8.

The usual trick would be to uninstall all the updates, then 8, and you'd be left with the original IE6. But this wasn't an upgrade, this was just IE8 as a complete install, and I'm not sure how to deal.

I can't install IE6 as well, as it detects the newer version and quits... Suggestions, please?

Never mind... had to uninstall SP3 and all the updates. Then I had IE6 back.

Now to re-install a ton of windows updates and a service pack.

Perhaps you should be looking at why your software requires IE6 and not IE6 or later?

Because Cisco hasn't upgraded their product to be on friendly terms with IE for an install - the software is pulled down from a web interface for our Cisco server. And the software itself has not been upgraded to be installed through IE8 yet.
