Setup of Windows Live mail.

Under Windows XP, you could Outlook not to open mail by using the Preview Settings. This was usefully, in that you could high light the e-mail and delete the email without opening it.
Using the Live Mail it automatically opens the e-mail - does this mean the e-mail being opened, does not allow to delete the e-mail with out opening it?
If the e-mail is opened, can this step be changed, as any virus within the e-mail is passed into the computer system.
At presnt I receive a fair quantity of e-mails that I do not wish to open and deleted immediately.
I will be most obliged if anyone in the Forum, can tell what steps to take to rectify this. Thank you.

 

I think you want WLM > View > Layout > Remove the tick from ‘Show the reading pane’.
