I have just installed Windows 7 Ultimate on my desktop and are now gradually installing software.

I installed the whole Office 2007 package, but since yesterday Word and Powerpoint does not open. All the other Office programs work.

I initially uninstalled and re-installed Office, but the same thing happened. I then downloaded File Format Conversion from Microsoft as well as Office 2007.

Despite shutting down, etc, the problem remains the same.

    Any advice please?

Does the check on line option help?

    If you ....

Orb > type in Run in the Search box > click on Run in the Programs list to open the Run box.

In the Run box type winword.exe - what happens?

    This is what I find:

I typed in winword.exe in run (I am not clear what you mean by the first part of your post)

    Few things you could try:

    • Find & delete the file normal.dotm
    • Run Office setup & choose Repair
    • Make sure you have the latest Office Service Pack installed

I found the file here, hope this is correct:

    C\Users\Albie\Appldata\Roaming\Microsoft\Templates.

I then deleted it and carried on with repairing Office; restarted.

I then opened Word, but it again asked if I eanted to open in safe mode. Then it ran diagnostics and sent it too Microsoft.

Thanks for the advice, but the PC crashed yesterday- no power and I took it in for repairs. So, I will wait and see what happens when it comes back.
