Shortcut to ....

I know there is a way to remove "Shortcut to" when creating a shortcut. I thought it was in TweakUI-XP but didn't see it.

 

That could be true in the former TweakUI but in the XP version, Explorer has no subhead Settings. There is a way to change the size of the arrow or show none but nothing about the word changes.

 

Maybe I'm confused but why don't you just rename it

 

Look again cause if you high light "Explorer" in tweak ui it has a setting for you to uncheck.

 

I'll have to re-download that. I did d/l the Tweakui for XP but it says version 2.00.1.0

I may have missed something somewhere.

Shortcut to... Tweak

Here's a neat little way to remove the "Shortcut to..." when creating a shortcut if you don't want to use a Tweaking program;

1. While on the desktop right click on My Computer and select CREATE SHORTCUT.

2. Right click the new shortcut and select RENAME.

3. Rename the "Shortcut to My Computer" icon to "My Computer "

4. Delete the "My Computer" Shortcut.

5. Repeat steps 1 - 4 four more times. The sixth time you create the shortcut, the "Shortcut to" prefix will no longer be displayed.

Works on all Versions of Win9?, Windows ME, and Windows XP Home. Not sure about Windows XP Pro.
