    Hello again,
Just another nagging little problem... I have a Medion KR-0420 wireless keyboard ontop of which I accidentally spilled a can of soda. I quickly inverted the KB to drain off the liquid and wiped with a wet cloth to try and take out the sugar. I then left the KB to dry overnight as I have heard that if you do wet electronic items - leaving them to dry makes them OK again. This happened with a USB key once which I put inside a washing machine. But 2 nights of drying make it work again.
With the keyboard unfortunately - the sugar has made some keys very sticky or hard to push down, but I am afraid to pour water into the keyboard as I might risk short-circuiting or something. Is there any way to clean it without damaging the keyboard?
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.
    Cheers

Strip it and clean it by hand, or save some of your life and buy a new one ;)

Just my opinion, if you are prepared to get a new one and the old one is made redundant, why not try fixing the old one and if works, all's well, if not, it goes into the bin where it was probably headed anyway.

Being wireless, remove the battery before you do any cleaning.

I would soak the keys with a pure form of alcohol. Keeping it inverted or soak it and quickly invert it or sit it (inverted) in a shallow tray of alcohol. Try not to let the liquid get through to the electronics, because it will carry the sugar and impurities with it.

I would use Contact Cleaner or a combination of both (alcohol then C.C.).

Make sure it is completely dry before testing it (leave it to dry for a few days).

If at first you don't succeed...chuck it in the bin :D

Many a person has ran their keyboard through a dishwasher (with very small amount of soap)...This was mainly done before wireless days...But the real key is to make certain its 100% dry before using it again.

Ive been down that road many of times, being that I have 2 boys, and 5 girls its use to be a daily task. Come home from work, key board full of sode or milk or as my oldest son did, He buired it in the back yard. Never did find out why. With luck I never once lost a key board. In the older days some of the key boards had springs in tham, So you had to be careful when you took tham a part. Now its real easy to take tham apart clean tham. The key thing is to take tham apart, that way you'll get all the soda or what ever else is in there out. Not to mention the dust and what ever else has found its way in side.
Ive done the putting it in the dish washer trick, its not as good as tearing it apart. Ive always used just good old warm water and a Q tip to get in the hard to reach places.
An if I was in a hurry, I'd use a air hose to blow out the water(be carefutl that the keys don't go flying out or any thing else) put it back togather. plug it in and off you go. I think I steal have my very first Cherry key board around here some where. It at lease 20 years old. Personelly I would take it a part, but that is because I love taking things apart and seeing what makes it tick!!!!!!!!!!!

This works if you make sure it is completely dry before you try to use it. Might be worth a shot to try, but make sure it is not on the cycle that dries dishes. You just need the wash and rinse cycle.

    Hi folks,
thanks for all the quick replies.. I will try some of these solutions resorting to the dishwasher as the last resort... but I think I will give a go at dismantling it first as gently as possible. :)
    Cheers
