Did a search and couldn't find anything good on this site or the web. Just wondering if it's worth redoing my system from Win2k Professional to Win2k server. I won't use much of the server stuff other than *maybe* IIS, but that's it.

Other than that, is it worth the hassle? I'm already having to redo my system to Win2k Professional, so redoing it wouldn't be a big deal.

    Hi PDubs,

The main advantage of Win2k Server is the stability that it provides. I use Win2k Server purely for IIS, in Win2k Pro, I had so many problems with global.asa and ADO. In Win2k Pro I would connect to Access DB's and a lot of the time when I tried to access them again it would completely lock me out.

I would recommend Win2k Server if you do serious web development and you need to host sites from your system, but for use as a general OS then I would stick with Win2k Pro.

I'm testing Windows .NET Standard Server at present, it might be worth waiting for this if you are going to purchase a new Server OS.

Thanks for the tips. I actually was on XP Pro for a while, but it just kept hanging on boot up (I tried everything and finally gave up), so I'm going back to 2000 until XP Server comes out. I just need something good to get me by until then. :D

Another major difference is the maximum number of folks that can connect to the machine at one time. 2KPro has a max of 10. 2KServer has a max to match whatever licenses you have.
