My os is Vista Home Premium and on a weekly basis I do a back up to My Books EH usb. I then go to that drive and I can open and look at the files I sent there. No problem.
I just downloaded Paragon Backup & Recovery version 10, similar to Acrondis, for free and performed a backup to My Books EH. When I went there it showed arc and pbf files. When I clicked on a pbf file, to view it, windows opened up telling me it could not open and gave me a choice to search on the web for the correct program or select a program from a list of installed programs.
My question is...if I ever need to restore my computer, will this Paragon program transfer it back safely to the C drive date I did this?
Excuse my ignorance but got to start somewhere so why not here at BBS!

Two questions - Two answers .....
If backup files you created with Paragon have an extension of .arc and .pbf, they need to be associated with Paragon program. This would allow you to open, view, and possible copy some data type file(s) information to your drive(s).

I have no user knowledge for Paragon products. Have used Acronis for a number of years. To "Restore an Image" to the active partition (operating system) on your HDD, you need to boot computer with a Acronis boot disk. The boot disk contains/loads the restore program. You then point the program to the stored image file location (source) and "Restore" that image to your active partition (target - normally C drive). When completed, you exit program and boot computer from partition you just restored.
