File explorer hogging memory XP SP3

This happen weekly any more. I have not figured out what is causing it. any help on how to track down what is causing Windows file explorer to use so much memory.

I have seen it use up to 600+ meg. I have been watching what i am doing to see if a program is causing it but have not found a program linked to this memory use by explorer.

I have searched the internet for others having this issues but most are very old. All but one that suggested it is a bad AVI file. I have search my hard drive and renamed all AVI files to test that and it did not solve this problem.

I have like 5 1TB drives connected to USB not sure if that some how has anything to do with this. I leave this PC on 24/7 so i have to kill the explorer.exe to get the memory back.

It might be a thumbnail corruption problem. Follow the instructions HERE. It won't do any harm (chicken soup) and may fix you up.

I have customized those setting for years but never set that one you told me about.

So i turn it on so it should stop doing it.
