    Hi,

While this thread is logical extension of earlier one re CPU usage during file encoding to burn movies to DVD, it is really another topic so I am making new thread:

I now have many movie files to burn to DVD cause my new player will play them.

In the past, i did not care about speed cause I almost never did this. Now, I do.

None of my existing apps including a new one do the covnersion in anythingt close to a timely fashion. I jsut found trial version of ConvertXToDVD.

As I type, it is converting The September Issue. Tried this earlier with two other apps and it was taking forever. This seems to be going at warpspeed.

Time is money. It is also not finite.

Does anyone know about this app? If so, compared to others, is this worth buying?

If it's good and saves serious time, I will buy it.

Anyone know of another app that is free or close to it that does this job fast?

    Many thanks.

    Edit:

While the trial version yields a file with their logo in the middle.....as usual--this app shows the FF film going in right pane of the interface! Just that might make it worth buying, no? But the time factor is the issue.

It also shows time remaining AND EVEN the frame being convedrted at warpspeed!

Please, nobody hit me for posting update; as I await feedback I learn on my own and I DO. It is my default mode.

Now, this software is AMAZING. Took NO TIME to convert the file and burn it to DVD. i am stunned. Based on what I have experienced in the past.

Then, nice lady with accent said successfully completd. Just that is worth part of what this costs, right?;)

i put it in the player, PERFECT!!! Cept for nag logo in the middle, of course.

Now. this software costs $50. That is a lot. But given what it does and at TEENY WEENY percentage of the time it takes other apps to do.....well, I would like opinions from those familiar and experienced buy not infatuated. Which U bet I am bigtime.

I will not get the VISA card....I will restrain myself....until I get expert feedback from those more familiar with these apps than i.

    Thanks so much.

I use two programs, DVD Flick or TMPGEnc. Both programs let me break my movies into chapters, add subtitles or pretty much anything I want to do.

I have used VSO software in the past (four or five years ago) and ran into a few audio video sync problems, but I'm sure thats been fixed by now. And yes, its a little faster than the two I use, but I do a lot of video processing. And these programs work.

You wanted opinions so here is mine. By the way DVD Flick is free.

    Thanks, Ranger, for the post.

I discovered DVD Flick earlier today and tried it. I think it is very good freeware, but also takes a very long time.

If only, that is, is compared with this newly discovered expensive one I think is from Germany.

    update/Coda:

After Ranger's post and getting I had just gotten and tried that app.....I Googled for a Coupon for the German one I am so impressed by.

I found a ten dollar off coupon, and I bought the app for $39.99.

I am amazing with money and not profligate and I felt I deserved this I will use now with great joy.:D

I am now marking this thread solved.

Broni, you have no idea how much I love you at this moment. Even more than before.....which was already significant!!!!:D

I have never seen anything like this. Nothing even close. I think about what $40 buys here.....and compared to what this will do in my life, forget everyone else who will be getting movies from me now that I can burn them so fast......well, common.

    lol

Now, as final offering....doing all this between clients, for anyone newly interested, I will offer some stats.

With trial version I burned two DVDs. They both had the buy me logo. Threw them out when I keyed in my new license key and no more nag-logo thingy.

I again did The September Issue. (The real account of what The Devil Wears Prada fictionalized.)

This is an 86 minute documentary, 699 MBs.

Conversion, titleset & chapter rendering took 25 minutes; burning took seven minutes.

Around half an hour for THE WHOLE THING.

    Can't beat that with a stick.:D

Sometimes, U gotta get the VISA card. Well, in this case, PayPal.
