    Hi,

Why does encoding a video file to burn to DVD take so much CPU energy? in this case, 65% of a decent chip: P-D, 3.40?

I have many burners including Nero; right now I am testing a new freeware, DVD Flick.

    Thanks.

It's quite normal. During encoding/burning my CPU usage is as high.

OK Steve....majorly cute.:) But I still do not get why this is such an energy drain.

Plus, I like my CPU to never be stressed. It does not do Pilates. Or Yoga. I like seeing it at just above zero.:p

But not sure my Presler chip does.:(

I never even looked before. But ignorance is not bliss, it only appears to be.

    Thanks, Broni and Steve!

    Hi again,

Remember I never looked into anything while burning anything before. Forget, this is my first test of the DVD Flick app. Which seems pretty darn good so far.

    Just found this:

    http://forums.dvdflick.net/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=752

I learned a lot from the above. And I do now get--kinda---there is major, serious reading and writing going on thru the various stages.

    Hello again....

I am now looking for ways to speed up the encoding-burning process without sacrificing quality.

    I found this:
    http://club.myce.com/f61/how-long-should-take-encode-burn-101790/

Pls scroll down to Mustang's post.

Is this, what he suggests... for real? No, right?

Is he talking about cloning an existing DVD?????

Yes he is, I also own and use CloneDVD2. Its an awesome program and it works well.

But it can also burn your Video_TS folder into a DVD.

    Hi, agian, Ranger,

Interesting! So you have two optical drives? Or not? I have considered installing a second one in the empty slot in my optical bay.

I have two spares in my drive drawer, after all. They just sit there.

But re encoding-converting and burning from movie files, I am still besotted by my new German app.....if only every software were written this brilliantly! This software is simply THRILLING. I am burning DVDs for people I don even like! lol

Let me now go follow up on the other app.:)

I do a lot of Video processing and yes I have three optical drives. All three are burners.

I did buy both AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 from slysoft. I also use the Slysoft virtual drive for .iso files. They are a good company and I do recommend them.

And yes there is a lot to learn, I learn more every day.

    THREE!!!!!!! :eek::eek::eek:

I currently have one in each of my 3 systems. But....my needs in this really require no more.

So excellent we are each unique and so, how we need and configure our computers to serve us as individuals.
