At one of my clients, we use a combo of offline files and profile redirection.

Recently a user began seeing the message stating to close all files and that offline files needs to sync (not exact wording obviously). this laptop has not been taken off of the network since the previous sync. The sync indicates that everything was sucessfully synced, but the icon does not disappear from the task tray.

When clicking on the icon it indicats that there is 1 file still that needs to sync. When doing this it will indicate that the file has been synced, however the icon still remains and the same 1 file needs to be syncronized again. I have looked in the offline files folder as well as the indicated location of the file, and this file does not exist.

What is causing this issue and how does one stop this from occuring?

    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the reply. I have read multiple Microsoft articles on troublshooting this issue and it seems none of the directly apply to this particular issue.

The offline file settings are setup correctly/the way we want them via group policy. We have about 53 users that are not having this problem, and 1 that is. I know the issue is specific to her laptop because when logging in as her on the terminal server there are no issues with syncing.

Basically it is trying to sync a file that does not exist and it continues to want to sync it over and over. Even stranger is that it indicates the sync was successful even though I cannot find the file anywhere on the network or the local computer including the offline files folder.

If you check the file on the Server - is it hidden ?
Also is it hidden on the laptop ?

I did check with hidden files showing and still could not locate the file.
