    I have Windows XP on my computer. When I am on a word processor or Notepad, and after typing in a few words, I click the X in the upper right corner of the screen to close this screen, a chime of sorts sounds. I don’t like this sound. I want no sound to occur when I click this X. How do I go about eliminating this sound? Thank you. abm

    1) Start->Control Panel

    If you have Category view then:

    Select Sounds, Speech, and Audio Devices.
    Select Change The Sound Scheme (then follow the instructions from 2) below)

    If you have classic view then select Sound and Audio Devices
    Select the Sounds Tab

    2) Select the Close Program option in the list near the bottom and from the drop down combo list at the very bottom select [None].

    Click OK and close control panel :)

    You can also change/remove any other annoying sounds from there.

    Post back if you need further help.
