Extra boot choices

Due to a couple of extra Winxp installs, I have 3 choices when booting, all look the same but only the upper one is valid.

How to I remove the extras?

 

C:\boot.ini (hidden and system and you will need to change those)

Use any text editor (notepad works fine) and simply delete the entries (lines) you no longer want/need.

If you look at the file and aren't sure, post a copy here. Better that than goof since a goof could easily leave you with a system that won't boot. Not a disaster since easy enough to recover from but no need to take a chance.

 

This may be repeat reply to you. Reinstalled XP and lost a bit of control over these posts.

I have two entries in the boot.ini. One says 'Partition (1) and the other Partition(2)

I did have the system on the second partition of my boot disk and using that, installed it to the first partition. That's the one that I want to use. I am afraid of deleting the wrong one and not having any system boot at all

I could set the timer for choice, at 5 seconds and then would not really matter if I deleted one. Just want to make things neater by not having that choice.
