I am running XP Home SP2 IE7 OE6 I have opted for IE7 and OE6 for functional reasons.

My question is.... How do I prevent MS updates from being automatically installed when I shutdown my computer.

I have download updates set to notify me and allow me to choose which updates I choose to install. This method works fine,..but when I shutdown the PC it overides and automatically commences to install updates that I have not selected and gives repetitive warnings not to turn off computer as downloads are in progress.
I ignore that message and switch off the computer as I do not want MS overiding my decisions.
So, back to my question....How do I prevent MS updates from being automatically installed when I shutdown my computer.
    Thanking you

Turn off AUTO Updates all together. Then when you manually go to the update site you have complete controll of you destiny.

The vast majority of updates come out on the second Tuesday of the month.
