Prior to a disk drive restore last year, I saved Documents and Settings and Program Files to a partition that I had been using as a Photoshop swap space. I am trying to delete all of the old files & folders but am getting error messages that say certain files can not be moved or removed because they are either in use (?) or I have no permission to do so.
I have checked file properties and where needed unchecked Read only.
I am a System Administrator. I also logged on as Administrator but still no luck.

    Chuck :(

    Thanks Steve,

I forgot to mention that I had found the/a pertinent article:
    "Microsoft support article 223188, http://support.microsoft.com/kb/223188
How to restore the system/boot drive letter in Windows. "

I had gone thru 10 steps. The 11th step said, "Right-click \DosDevices\C:, and then click Rename. "

It was at this point that I realized there should not have been a \DosDevices\C: .. only a \DosDevices\F:!! So I stopped and looked at Windows Explorer, and sure enough, Everything was back to normal with the restored drive as Drive-C and no Drive-F.

After the restore, before re-booting, I disconnected the external drive leaving nothing attached. When it finished re-booting I was sure that the boot drive was F. I rebooted once again before turning in.

    It's magic!

Left out an important item: During restoration, the application specifically noted that the Drive letter C was being changed to F.
