I would appreciate help on file back up, using external hard drive.
I have configured Backup to be initialised on a specified week day and time.
Windows Image Backup - does show date backup intialised but not day of week high lited.
Other back ups as, Roberts PC, Program files, Program files (x86) and Windows File folder, display same date as when initial first back up.
Does these other backups require manual intervention? in the event of any file there in, being automatically upgraded and to the C hard drive.
Is the answer in having software installed that deals with changed files being upgraded and saved to installed named program.

I recommend Comodo Backup or GFI Backup (incremental) both free and better to backup your system as well. Also recommended to separate personal files (move to a different partition) from system files.
Unless your external drive is always plugged in, it may be better to initiate your backup manually and use Windows or Google Calendar to remind you.

I installed your suggested Backup GIF as it appears easier to follow, my thank for your help.
What is the correct procedure to backup Windows and other progams in drive "C" to external drive "F ", as I am not quite sure how to setup GIF.

Use GFI to image important files, the registry and system settings and e-mails.
Use Comodo to make an image of your system partition. Comodo will do the above as well, but GFI can do incrementals.

Here's the GFI backup, manual (pdf) to get you started. Feel free to ask specific questions if you don't understand certain steps.

JCinvan, for some reason GFI when run, made a backup that went on for some three hours and eventually the screen went into the freeze mode.
Not knowing anything of GFI workings and to avoid further mishaps, I rebooted computer and removed GFI from my system for the present.
I read your notes today, unfortunately the GFI backup manual fails to open
and a caption reads "Web page was cancelled ".
