    After replacing the HD in my IBM T40 and loading Windows XP, I am unable to connect to the Internet. I have confirmed the Internet is accessible via my desktop (using the same cable connected to the T40).

    I was able to connect to the Internet with the old drive in my T40, until the drive finally froze up. When I bought the T40 used, it came with a CD labeled Windows XP Professional SP-1, which I used to load the WinXP on the new drive.

    I have the Home Page set to http://www.google.com.

    When I execute IE, I get "The page cannot be displayedâ€

    Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Jim

    Welcome to WindowsBBS :)

    Have you installed the chipset and other drivers for NIC, modem, audio, etc?

    If you look in Device Manager are any sections flagged with a ! on a yellow triangle?

    In windows XP
    You check where are you losing connection
    Goto Start->Run->type

    msinfo32
    and hit enter

    Click on tools
    Click on Net diagnostics

    In the New Window (Net diagnostics)
    Check all the boxes except Verbose
    and click on Save option
    then click on Scan Now and it will give a report where is it failing
