I have several novice users that will login to an XP workstation. Does anyone know of a way to have network printers that are available/installed under administrator to be automatically available for each new user?

I do not want the users to have to browse the network to find a printer. I want all installed printers to be available to all users (including future users) all of the time as in Windows 98. Thanks for the help.

    XP-home - haven't a clue.

XP-Pro - under properties~security make sure that the "everyone" group has rights to print.

Here's what I've been told...and read somewhere on the MS KB, although I can't find the page tonight.

XP Home has the same ability to change groups permissions except you have to boot into Safe Mode using the Administrator account to make the groups permission changes. Why Safe Mode? Who knows? Perhaps it made some sort of sense to the MS boys and girls when they wrote the code?

    more details re:printer

Thanks but I don't think it is a "rights" problem. Both printers have Everyone set with printing rights as does the network server.

I have two network printers installed while logged into XP workstation as administrator. These printers do not show up as installed for any other user. The FAX device does show up for all users.

How can I make the printers installed under Administrator available to all users by default?

    Thanks again for the help.

Install a local printer and new local port pointing to \\servername\printer or use rundll32 with /ga (add per machine printer connections):

    rundll32 printui.dll, PrintUIEntry /ga /in /n \\servername\printer

    rundll32 printui.dll, PrintUIEntry /?
