I am running XP Home and IE7 on my laptop.

OE6 connects to Internet OK but IE7 won't??

Any idea what the IE problem might be caused by?

Can you clarify your situation? - you cannot run both IE6 and IE7 on the same computer.

    Reading between the lines .....

If you install IE7 you cannot connect.

If you uninstall IE7 to roll back to IE6 you can connect.

IE7 is history - you should upgrade to IE8.

    My hope were premature..still unresolved.
Loaded FF as an alternative...not working.
Shut down modem, removed and replaced its SIM CARD....still unresolved.
192.168.1.1 is requird to enter wireless settings
192.168.1.2 are the desktop ISP settings
192.168.1.3 are the Laptop ISP settings...but I am inclined to think that
Desktop should be 192.168.1.1 and Laptop 192.168.1.2 though of course I could be wrong, methinks that the Laptop 192.168.1.3 could be the conflict !!!!

What hardware are you using to access the internet? Do alll your PC connect at once?
192.168.1.1 is often the router. You should be able to let your router sort out the IP addresses. Try setting the laptop and desktop to automatic IP.

If you must statically assign the IP, then each device's IP address must be unique. So laptop, desktop and router must each have a differnet IP.

Thanks very much for that explanatory overview..much appreciated and helps clarify for my understanding that what I had presented as a possible error is not really valid.
    Thanks
