I have a new windows 7 laptop and have already been on the internet but am now getting the message that I am offline . I have followed all instructions to rectify this but to no avail. I have been to 'tools' and removed the tick on offline but this keeps reverting back. The 'connection availability' (which I have been into once) now shows the are available but not connected and there is a yellow star on this. I have read that this is proving to be a problem with windows 7 - can anyone help me to get back on line?

    JJ,

I don't have Windows 7 nor have experienced this problem but since you haven't had any responses, thought I would pose a couple of thoughts.
It would appear to me that your problem may be with your browser which I will assume is IE8. If so, then this post might be better viewed and get more responses in the Internet and Networking Forum. If this is the case, then perhaps one of the Staff Members can move it.

I did a Google search and hit the following that might give you some guidance: http://social.answers.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/InternetExplorer/thread/6d492848-27e8-44b0-acfa-c2fa48d97b18

In any event, this may generate some responses from those more experienced than I.

In tools go to internet connections where you will see 7 tabs one of them being connections where you can check how you are connecting to the internet.
I am on AT&T Uverse cable and my connection tab has NO check marks on this page and non for LAN settings.
How are you set up for getting to the internet?
