This is most likely not your device but this link mayhelp you out.

What is the name/model of your USB device? Perhaps we can find some specific information on your gadget.

Did that previous link help you any? I went to Freecom's site but I couldn't find any good information without registering to access their support forum.

it helped a little, i wanted to avoid going through all the motions of click click click just to remove the device,,,,cant see any reason Y it will hurt the device just by unplugging it,,,

I have looked for a registry hack to somehow stop the pop up

    any help is all great

I can't seem to find any sort of registry hack to remove the need to "stop" the device before unplugging it. From my understanding of the process, the driver provided by the device manufacture is missing a "SurpriseRemovalOK" field setting to permit hot-unplugging (for lack of a better term).
