I work as a systems admin for a large government corp. We have a standard image we install on all machines. This includes a policy to disable autorun when any media is inserted. (We had a problem with autorun installing viruses). Policies are set at user login. There are how ever a few instances where we need dvd's to autorun on demand. So I am wondering if there is a manual way to have a dvd run automatically, say, through a batch file or something? I have yet to discover one.

Thanks for any ideas you may have.

    Welcome to WindowsBBS;)

In theory, you could have a shortcut on the desktop that when clicked on would launch an app on the dvd.....But the DVD drive letter would need to be consistant etc....

Thanks, I tried that first actually. Made short to run D:\startup.exe. Then I found that all the dvd's (there are a dozen or so) use different start commands, some even with tags. That when I wondered if I could just force run the d:\autorun.inf but that does not work as things are now.
