    Hi,

Just learned (re another thread in this forum), one of my amazing bargain Cherry KB needs taking apart and cleaning.

Ironic Arie should have recently posted about the evils of dirty KBs....and that sometimes, they are the distillation of dirty in yr house. lol

These are special devices. Laser etched keys, smart card slots, and a membrane under the keys so anyone making spills is OK.

I just Googled and they only seem to have instructions to take these apart in German.

    http://repair4keyboard.org/disassembly_cherry.html
Is that fair? NO. I do not speak or read German.

    Any suggestions?

I am now on its brand new twin....got both on eBay for no money a while back. Should I just throw the first one out????

    Many thanks.

OMG.....I need a small parts bag and use one of our commercial Speed Queens in the laundry room? After removing all the keys?

Surely there must be an easier way.

When I have time, why can't I follow the instructions but put all the keys in a bowl with some Mrs. Meyers and agitate them until the solution has rendered them clean??

    Hi, Neil!

Thanks for yet another translator option.

Pete, bless him, hooked me up with the Google translator and that was huge new gift.

Now we are up to the English version which is Byzantine and VERY, VERY TEUTONIC....with pics, says I must remove the top cover, do the requisite hand cleaning, then remove all the keys, then put them in a smallparts bag and use a washing machine. It gets even more detailed after this: for me, using a sledgehammer to crack an egg.

I do not make stuff up, OK?

It is excruciatingly detailed tutorial with accounts of how fat residue looks Check it out, makes U wanna kill yrself.

This will be, say, a cup of KEYS, Ok? Is it possible I need a $3K commercial Speed Queen to clean those? That anyone does? Surprised he didn't insist on an autoclave. Ok wait, too hot. and he does, in fac,t address the TEMPS IN THE WASHING MACHINE.

Am I NUTS? Or is that tutorial just very Teutonic, and so, IT is nuts?
