[Resolved] Computer freezing, Internet explorer not connecting

My last post didn't post through so this is a re-submission.

Hello, I suspect that my problem is Malware or a virus but have not been able to identify anything. My other thought was that it might have been a software confict.

My desktop PC has had the following symptoms:

1. It started turning itself off and restarting with no warning or shut down proceedure. I have checked the leads and plug and there is no problem there.
2. It has now developed a problem where it keeps freezing at different times.
3. Internet explorer would opnen but not connect and just "hang" at the connection screen. Internet Explorer 8 the automatically downloaded three updates and IE 8 then wouldn't even open. I have uninstalled the updates and the programme opens but still hangs.
4. I have run Malwarebytes Anti Malware programme which didn't pick anything up. The log is below.
5. I have trend micro installed and think it might have something to do with its automatic updates. I have switched the autoupdate off but can't istall what it has done before. The programme stalls or freezes when I run a system scan on Trend Micro.
6. I have tried a system restore to a previous point but the system gave me the message that it was not possible to restore to that point.

I am using my wife's laptop. Will trry the removal tool now.

 

The Norton removal appears to have worked and the computer restarted okay.

Not sure if it is relevant but the computer is not picking up any wireless networks now.

It is still not loading. I click the icon and the egg timer appears for a few seconds but nothing happens. When its been like this since the problems started and I had to reboot because it had stalled, a message appered when I was logging off that said iexplorer needs to close. So I don't know if its working in the background but can't see it.

I had to turn off Trend Micro inorder to setup Firefox. So I guess the problem is being caused by either EI 8 or Micro trend.

 

I am turning Trend back on to see if Firefox still works.

 

IE still does not respond with it swithced off.

Understood about TM. My subscription is almost up to I am tempted to uninstal it and get something else. Will it leave stuff behind like Norton did and what else is a good programme?

 

I spoke too soon. Firefox has just crashed the whole system has frozen and the box is making a constant tone noise. Just had to unplug it again.

 

TM now removed and computer has restarted successfully. IE still will not open properly.
