I have an older Dell PC that I am donating to our church. I have removed all important files and pics however I would like to erase all data and history. Any free ideas out there?

    Try killdisk.com.
    The free version works well.

Or - Google 'erase HD' for a host of alternatives.

You realize that the computer will not work after you wipe the drive clean don't you? You would have to install the operating system again or it will not have much value.

Just wanted to make sure. ;)

edit: I see that killdisk now has a new feature that wipes only the free space. That might be more suitable for you. There are other programs that do that as well.

The PC has been running very slow for the last year ( reason I got a new one) after many attempts to repair. CCLeaner, Scandisk,Maleware etc. were all used.

I don't know if I should leave the XP on for the next user or not. Any suggestions?

It will not be a lot of use without an OS, so, given that you have the original Dell CD use it to make a clean install of XP, update to SP3, load an antivirus and they will be 'good to go'.
